Tips For Remote Work Success
As many of us support teams who are transitioning to working from home, we will be posting a series of tips for remote work success over the next few days. We will add to this list each day over the next two weeks.
#1: Establish A ROUTINE ~ Structure your day in blocks of time and communicate your schedule to others on your team.
#2: Set GUIDELINES ~ Set specific guidelines for how you will communicate with others including how often and what channels you will use.
#3: PLAN More Tightly ~ Have a plan for the day with a list of what will be accomplished and built-in breaks.
#4: Increase Virtual MEETINGS ~ Up the number of virtual team meetings, such as a brief daily check-in or end-of-day huddle.
#5: Increase INFO-SHARING ~ Send summary FYI emails or instant messages regarding progress on key projects, tasks and needs from others.
#6: Be Purposeful About RELATIONSHIPS ~ Take time each day to have virtual one-on-one small-talk or live check-ins to see how everyone is doing.
#7: Manage HOUSEKEEPING ~ Be sure files and information are in their proper places so others can find them easily; follow protocols in place.
#8: BATCH Requests ~ Keep a running list of requests for others and communicate it to them once or twice a day to avoid overloading others.
#9: Change Your STATUS ~ Keep your IM, voicemail and email statuses up to date.
#10: Use VIDEO ~ Wherever you can, use video to increase connection.
#11: Evaluate & ADJUST ~ Every few days, take a few minutes to evaluate what’s working or not, and adjust. Share ideas with others.
